Hello,
I wanted to reach out and share several upcoming community events with you. We have a busy couple of weeks ahead with some great opportunities to connect, learn, support one another, and continue building relationships throughout our community.
Please consider joining us and sharing these events with your staff, organizations, families, friends, neighbors, and community networks.
- COFFEE WITH A COP | Wednesday, October 7 | 2:30–4:30 PM
Old Navy Gresham | 747 NW 12th St
Join your local retail community partners and Gresham Police officers for coffee and conversation!
Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community they serve together in a relaxed environment for conversation, questions, and an opportunity to learn more about one another. There is no agenda—just coffee, conversation, and connection.
We would love to see you there!
- FAITH & BLUE | Thursday, October 8 | 4:00–7:00 PM
Gresham Arts Plaza
Faith & Blue is an opportunity to bring law enforcement, faith communities, businesses, community organizations, families, and neighbors together—not because something bad has happened, but simply to build relationships, have conversations, learn about one another, and strengthen our community.
The evening will include community resource tables, law enforcement and community partners, music, cultural performances, faith leaders, activities, and plenty of opportunities to connect with one another.
I have attached the Faith & Blue flyer and would greatly appreciate you sharing it with your networks and inviting others to join us!
- CONVERSATIONS ON A BENCH & FILL THE HOUSE | Friday, October 9 | 9:00–10:30 AM
My Father’s House | 5003 W Powell Blvd
Chief Travis Gullberg and Chief Hairston will be participating in Conversations on a Bench at My Father’s House.
We will also have a police vehicle and fire vehicle onsite, and we are turning the morning into a Fill the House event to support the incredible work My Father’s House does in our community.
Stop by, see the vehicles, visit with us, take a picture with the Chiefs, and, if you are able, bring a cash donation to support My Father’s House. Whether you can stay for five minutes or the entire event, we would love to see you!
- ACTIVE SHOOTER RESPONSE & STOP THE BLEED TRAINING | Saturday, October 10 | 11:00 AM–2:30 PM
Latino Network / La Plaza Esperanza | 16515 SE Oak St., Portland
Join us for a community training focused on practical, potentially lifesaving skills.
Participants will learn how to respond during an active shooter situation and stay safe while emergency help is arriving, as well as how to control severe bleeding and help save a life while waiting for paramedics. Active Shooter Flier in EN (2)
The training will be presented in English with Spanish interpreters available. Youth ages 13 and older may participate when accompanied by an adult. Lunch will be available for the first attendees to arrive, along with raffles and a certificate of participation for those who complete the full training. Childcare will not be available. Active Shooter Flier in EN (2)
Please help us share this opportunity with individuals, families, organizations, and community members who may benefit from learning these important skills.
- SEE THE SIGNS, KNOW THE RESOURCES: A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMMUNITY CONVERSATION | Wednesday, October 14 | 6:00–8:00 PM
Council Chambers at City Hall | 1333 NW Eastman Parkway
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this conversation is for all of us.
You do not have to be experiencing domestic violence yourself to benefit from this event. It may be a friend, neighbor, coworker, family member, or someone else you care about—and you may not know what signs to look for, what to say, or how to help without potentially making the situation more dangerous.
That is exactly why we are having this conversation.
We will talk about recognizing signs of abuse, better understanding domestic violence, and learning how to safely support someone we care about.
Community organizations and resource providers will also be onsite with information tables, giving attendees an opportunity to meet the people doing this work, ask questions, learn about available services, and know where to turn when someone needs help.
The attached flyer includes participating organizations and additional details. Please consider sharing it with anyone who may benefit from attending.
- BEHIND THE SCAM: Holiday Edition / Thursday, November 5 | 6:00–8:00 PM
Council Chambers at City Hall | 1333 NW Eastman Parkway
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this conversation is for all of us.
Hear directly from local and federal law enforcement and prosecutors about what they are seeing, how these crimes happened, and the simple steps you can take to make yourself and your business a harder target.
Know the scam. Spot the signs. Protect your business.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us spread the word. Please share these opportunities far and wide!
As always, please message me, email me, or reach out directly if you have questions, need additional information, or would like help getting connected.
I hope to see you this week!
Thank you,
Jayme
